What about bite correction or surgery?
Very rarely do patients require surgery to address TMJ disorders. Most often, conservative therapies successfully address TMJ disorders. At times, special injection therapies may be used before any surgery is even considered. Our office approach is to provide the least invasive therapy option.
However, if you feel your TMJ disorder has caused problems with how your teeth fit together there are various additional treatment options which you may also need, such as orthodontics with or without jaw reconstruction, or restorative dental work. Surgical options, such as arthroscopy and open joint repair restructuring, are sometimes needed, but are reserved for very severe cases. Our office will work with you and your team of providers to address your comprehensive needs.
